COR Retreat: A Food Addiction Program

The COR Retreat is a residential program held monthly at the McIver Center for Spiritual Development, located on the grounds of The Retreat. COR Retreat is a residential food addiction program that teaches a way to live free from the obsession with food and the excess weight it causes. It is a proven method to stop overeating with lasting success, improved self-worth and quality of life.

The program dives into the full understanding of each participant’s food addiction and how to arrest it. COR which means “heart” in Latin, offers a path to spiritual fitness, emotional balance, and recovery. At the COR Retreat, we use a proven model of behavior change, the Twelve Step recovery approach, that has brought relief to compulsive overeaters for decades. One of COR Retreat’s greatest assets is ongoing support from the fellowship of recovered people who have found the solution to food addiction through the Twelve Steps.

The daily schedule at the COR Retreat is built around time with our faithful volunteers who carry the message of hope and recovery. It’s a great way to relate, connect and find your way out of overeating. The beginning of a healthy relationship with food and a new outlook on your life awaits you in a safe, supportive environment. You will spend time with others who understand that “willpower” is not your problem and that freedom from food and weight obsession is possible.

Essential Information Regarding the Food Addiction Retreat

While the COR Retreat is not affiliated with The Retreat, it’s a great opportunity to take your recovery to new levels. Over the course of five days, participants will work together by participating in group discussions, Big Book study, and shared meals. There will be plenty of time for individual reflections and discussions along with daily personal time and writing exercises. The schedule is designed with a number of 10-minute breaks throughout the day so that our participants can experience a non-rushed, peaceful program. After attending the COR Retreat, you will have access to several support resources including COR Connection—an exclusive Facebook group for alumni that helps aid you through the food addiction recovery process. We also host bi-weekly ZOOM support group meetings at no additional charge in order to help you get and stay connected to COR Alumni from all over!

EnCOR Retreat
